I could count the years

By the miles we drove side by side

By the songs we sang together

By the sunsets that warmed our hearts

By the laughter and the tears

By the children’s triumphs

By the homes we made together

By the jobs accomplished or left undone

I could number the seasons

By the goodnight and goodbye kisses

By the hello glad-to-see-you hugs

By the trials we walked through

By the unexpected joys

By the hoped for dreams

By the times of proven faith

By the ways we failed

But the deeper record of passing time

Is how Love grew real and true

How It gave meaning to each emprise

How It faithfully knew It’s end

How we submitted

How It built something out of the brokenness

How It wove It’s thread of forgiveness and care

How every moment It bound us together

In a process meant to make us one.

Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. ~Ecclesiastes 4:12
